Since the establishment of our Adult Learning Program for the Bagpipes and Drums in 2014, our programs have flourished, becoming a cornerstone of our musical community. During this time, we have trained more than 15 adults to play the bagpipes and drums.
We’ve worked tirelessly to create an inclusive space where individuals of all ages and backgrounds can come together to learn and master the art of playing the bagpipes and drums. Through our regular weekly scheduling, experienced instructors, and a carefully crafted curriculum, participants have made remarkable progress on their musical journeys through group lessons at a far less cost than taking private lessons.
Group lessons are the key to our programs success, the interactive learning of working with other pipers and instructors allows players to challenge each other and see greater rate of success in their learning.
Our emphasis on community engagement, coupled with access to instruments and a culture of goal setting and recognition, has been pivotal in the program’s success. As we reflect on our achievements since 2014, we are inspired by the growth of our players and the community looks forward to the continued enrichment of our musical heritage through our performances year round.
There is still room in our programs, we take on new students year round. Those adults over the age of 18 years of age wishing to learn to play the bagpipes or drums can find our more about our programs on our Learn to Play page.
Without the continued support from the BC Pipers’ Associations, BC Community Gaming Grants and the City of Surrey Cultural Program our Adult Learning Programs would not be as popular and successful as they are.
